Joel Embiid put up impressive numbers against the Blazers, but some fans still aren’t impressed

Joel Embiid had another great game against the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night, chipping in 35 points, 15 rebounds, seven assists, six caps and two steals. However, some fans remain unimpressed with Embiid’s regular season numbers, especially after last year’s playoff failure.

One fan tweeted, “We are no longer impressed with Embiid’s regular season stats.”

Embiid finished second in MVP voting for the second year in a row and eventually won the award last season. However, he led the 76ers to another playoff elimination by the Boston Celtics.

Embiid’s 76ers are hoping that new head coach Nick Nas can help them get over the hump. Nas has been impressed with Embiid’s performance so far, saying, “I’m not surprised by his performance. He’s a great player.”

Embiid’s teammates Tobias Harris and Tyrese Maxey have also stepped up in the absence of James Harden, who is reportedly seeking a trade. Against the Blazers, Harris had 24 points, five rebounds, two assists, two caps and one steal, while Maxey had 26 points, 10 rebounds and four assists.

If Harris and Maxi can continue to play at a high level, it will help take the pressure off Embiid and make the 76ers more of a threat in the playoffs.
