As the NCAA prepares for the upcoming season, the Associated Press, as always, has released its preseason Women’s Basketball All-America Team.2022-23 selections Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese are the favorites to win the title this season, along with the team’s four other Talented Players.
Clark and Reese hold the top spot
Iowa Hawkeyes star Caitlin Clark has been named to the Associated Press Preseason All-America Team for the third consecutive season, making her second unanimous selection in two years. Clark appeared on all 36 ballots submitted by the national media panel, while her competitor and current NCAA champion Angel Reese appeared on 35 ballots.
Clark had a stellar season last season, contributing 27.8 points, 8.6 assists and 7.1 rebounds per game. She led the Hawkeyes all the way to the NCAA finals, but ultimately lost to Reese’s LSU Tigers.
Other Players to Watch
In addition to Clark and Reese, the Associated Press preseason All-America team included Virginia Tech’s Elizabeth Keatley, Stanford’s Cameron Brinker, Connecticut’s Paige Bukes and Indiana’s Mackenzie Holmes.
Bukes is returning this season after recovering from a torn ACL in her left knee. She missed most of her sophomore campaign due to the injury.
Holmes became the first player in Indiana Indiana history to be named to the preseason All-America team. This is the second selection for Keatley, and Brink is one of only two remaining players from the 2021 NCAA Champion Stanford Cardinal.
Fans are expecting a repeat of last season from these six players. We will see how quickly they can recover from the offseason.
